VicoCut Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-14
Operator: VicoCut operator. Contact email: vicocut.support@gmail.com.
VicoCut detects supported video media and saves authorized videos on your device. VicoCut has no developer-operated analytics or video-processing server and does not require a VicoCut account.
Information handled
VicoCut reads supported media URLs, media response metadata, page titles and source page addresses to detect video, inspect available quality/size, and download selected content. Detected media URLs and task details are stored in browser session storage. Media addresses can contain access tokens or signed query parameters.
Local download history includes titles, file names, source page addresses, media type, quality, size, status, timestamps, browser download/task identifiers and error messages. Source page addresses can include query parameters and fragments. Persistent history does not intentionally retain the raw media URL, but Chrome's separate downloads records may contain it. Theme preferences are also stored locally.
HLS video segments may be temporarily staged in the extension's origin-private browser storage and then written to the file location you select. Direct file downloads use the browser's download system.
Network requests and third parties
VicoCut sends requests to source websites and media servers to inspect and download video. Where permitted by the browser, those requests may include the source site's authentication cookies. VicoCut does not read cookies through the cookies API. The source server receives normal network request information, such as your IP address. These source services have their own privacy practices.
VicoCut does not upload video, download history or detected URLs to a developer server, sell user data, or include advertising or analytics trackers. It does not execute remote JavaScript.
The optional support link opens Buy Me a Coffee only when clicked; VicoCut does not attach video addresses or download history. Buy Me a Coffee and its payment processors handle support payments under their own terms and privacy policies. Payment information is not collected or stored by the extension. Support is optional and is not required to use any feature. If you contact the developer, your email address and the message you choose to send are handled through Google Gmail to respond to your request.
When you visit the public privacy website, its hosting provider, GitHub Pages, may process visitor request information such as IP addresses under its own policy. The extension does not send detected media or download history to this website or to GitHub.
Limited Use
VicoCut's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the disclosed media detection, download, progress and local history features. User data is not used for personalized advertising, credit assessments or data sales. The developer cannot remotely access media addresses or history held by the extension. Information you voluntarily email is used to handle that request.
Retention and deletion
- Detection data and job details are held for the browser session. Detection entries for a tab are removed on relevant navigation or when the tab closes.
- Download history remains until you delete records in History or uninstall the extension. Deleting history does not delete downloaded video files.
- Theme preferences remain until changed or the extension is uninstalled.
- Temporary HLS segments are cleaned after normal completion, cancellation or failure. Forced shutdowns may leave temporary files in extension storage.
- Uninstalling removes extension-managed browser storage. Saved video files and Chrome's own download history are managed separately by you and your browser.
- Information voluntarily emailed to the developer is used to answer the request and retained only as necessary to handle the request and any applicable obligations.
VicoCut uses local storage rather than Chrome sync storage; it does not intentionally synchronize download history or settings to a developer service.
Permissions
Web request and HTTP/HTTPS site access let VicoCut detect media on web pages and fetch video from separate media/CDN domains. Downloads permission saves direct files, checks status, resumes eligible downloads and reveals files in their folder. Storage permission holds detection information, history and preferences. Active tab access identifies the page where you open VicoCut.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated when the extension's data handling changes. For privacy or support questions, contact vicocut.support@gmail.com.
